Recycling your old whiteboards

Recycling allows you to do your part in creating a better environment. It’s an essential activity in your day, right? The same goes for us. As of 2014, Show-me introduced whiteboards that were fully recyclable.

Since then, Show-me has continued to develop fully recyclable whiteboards. However, as our customer, do you know what to do with your old whiteboard?

You can say no, it’s fine. That’s why you’re here right now.

Firstly, a little about Recycling

Recycling is good for many reasons, such as:

  • Saving resources
    • When you recycle, used materials are converted into new products, reducing the need to consume natural resources. If used materials are not recycled, new products are made by extracting fresh, raw material from the Earth, through mining and forestry.
  • Protects the environment
    • Recycling reduces the need for extracting (mining, quarrying and logging), refining and processing raw materials all of which create substantial air and water pollution.
  • Recycling saves energy
    • Using recycled materials in the manufacturing process uses considerably less energy than what is required for producing new products from raw materials.

Show-me whiteboards are designed to last for many years, but sometimes in a busy school, things happen, and you’ll inevitably reach the point when your board is no longer useable, and a replacement is necessary.

There is now a FREE and SIMPLE way to recycle your mini whiteboards!

All you have to do is follow these 5 steps:

STEP 1 – COLLECT

Once you have decided to join the scheme, place suitable boxes* in and around your classroom or office. When you order Show-me plastic whiteboards from any supplier, keep the packaging as it can be used as a collection box for your old boards. It’s also great for safely storing the boards and accessories in your classroom!

STEP 2 – SEAL

Fill the box completely with any A5 or A4 mini whiteboards. We accept MDF boards, but these are handled differently to plastic and are more likely to be restored and sent to charities like Hope Africa. Once each box is full and below the required maximum limit, seal the box using parcel tape so all the items are securely contained.

STEP 3 – CONFIRM

Once your box is full, all you’ll need to do is complete a simple form and you’ll receive an email with a shipping label to affix to the sealed box.

STEP 4 – SEND

Once the box is ready for collection, our courier (currently FedEx) will collect it and ship it to our office in Norfolk for sorting.

STEP 5 – SHARE

Once sorted, all suitable boards get turned into new whiteboards and the process begins all over again. If your school’s on social media, share the steps you’re taking to reduce your environmental impact. Use the hashtag #showmerecycling to share your involvement in the scheme.

*Suitable boxes are double-walled carboard boxes that are free from water damage, and up to a maximum weight of 16KG per box. The customer will be required to use a box that is suitable for the weight of the recycling and is suitably sealed, so that even the smallest parts (pen lids/ caps) are unable to fall out. Eastpoint will not be able to provide a box for the returns. If the customer has purchased a Show-me classpack or bulk box the outer transit cases (the brown box the product was shipped in) can be used for the returns process. All boxes should be free from additional items than those listed and may be subject to fees if the boxes are found to contain contaminates.
